Gavin Massler leads The Academy to victory over Jefferson Academy

Recap: The Academy Wildcats vs. Jefferson Academy Jaguars

The Academy Wildcats can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They strolled past Jefferson Academy with points to spare, taking the game 60-42. The victory was just what The Academy needed coming off of a 92-48 loss in their prior match.

It was another big night for Gavin Massler, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Trey Boychuk was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Jimeto Orji and Ian Quaratino certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Orji scored 11 points along with two steals, while Quaratino scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Josh Neely, who scored nine points.

The Academy's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-15. As for Jefferson Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Academy will take on Prospect Ridge Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jefferson Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Peak to Peak at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Peak to Peak knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Jefferson Academy likes a good challenge.
