Baseball Recap: Chowchilla Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Chowchilla won the last time they faced Riverdale and things went their way on Monday too. The Tribe were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Cowboys. The result was nothing new for the Tribe, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Nick Grissom was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chowchilla is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 11-13 otherwise. Grissom was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Chowchilla got a massive performance out of Brody Absher, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Absher has posted since back in May of 2024. Dillon Watkins was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Chowchilla always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverdale only posted an OBP of .167.

Chowchilla pushed their record up to 14-13 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Riverdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-16.

As of now, neither Chowchilla nor the Cowboys have any future games scheduled.
