Softball Game Preview: Hermitage Panthers vs. Freeman Mavericks

After both having extra time off, the Hermitage Panthers and the Freeman Mavericks will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hermitage has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hermitage managed to slip by Maggie Walker the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Panthers came up short against Maggie Walker last Wednesday, falling 18-9. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Maggie Walker since last Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Freeman was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Glen Allen.

Ryleigh Perks made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Freeman's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Hermitage, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Hermitage might still be hurting after the 10-3 loss they got from Freeman when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
