Century hasn't had much luck against Sherwood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jaguars will be playing at home against the Bowmen at 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Century's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Salem on Wednesday. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alyssa Loza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Century saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Udasco, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Sherwood came tearing into Wednesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bowmen, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Sherwood got a massive performance out of Daisha Cornwell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Maddie Wright, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Sherwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Sherwood pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Century, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
