Softball Game Preview: Canyon Hills Rattlers vs. Bonita Vista Barons

The Canyon Hills Rattlers will be taking part in a tournament against the Bonita Vista Barons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are still undefeated after three games, but that won't be the case come Tuesday.

Canyon Hills' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Hilltop by a score of 3-0.

Natalye Debus was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles.

Debus wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hal'E Martin, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bonita Vista posted their closest win since April 15, 2024 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Imperial, sneaking past 2-1.

Danica Aboytes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ariana Magdaleno, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Kianna Balajadia-Brooks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Bonita Vista hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Canyon Hills' record is now 3-0. As for Bonita Vista, their record now sits at an identical 3-0.
