After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Pius X, Grants was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Capital Jaguars 12-10. With that victory, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Annora Graham and Delilah Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Graham got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one triple, while Martinez went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That triple marked the first that Graham hit this season. Another player making a difference was Raeyna Valdez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Grants always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Grants moved to 4-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Capital, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5-1.

Grants has already played their next matchup, a 16-0 victory against Highland on the 8th. As for Capital, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Santa Fe at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
