Baseball Game Preview: Horace vs. West Fargo Packers

Horace will venture away from home to challenge the West Fargo Packers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Horace is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Horace had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Valley City on Tuesday. Horace put the hurt on Valley City with a sharp 13-5 victory. Considering Horace has won four games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Horace got a big performance out of Jett Collins, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Collins has hit this season. Evan Krogen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Horace hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, West Fargo faced Fargo South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Packers had just enough and edged out the Bruins 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Packers have posted since April 30, 2024.

Horace's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for West Fargo, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record.

Horace couldn't quite get it done against West Fargo in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can Horace avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
