Softball Game Preview: Cypress Bay Lightning vs. West Broward Bobcats

Cypress Bay is 2-8 against West Broward since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cypress Bay Lightning will head out on the road to take on the West Broward Bobcats at 3:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cypress Bay was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against South Broward on Thursday. Cypress Bay put the hurt on South Broward with a sharp 18-7 win. The Lightning haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, West Broward got the win against St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-2.

Cheyanne Chaffin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, West Broward got a big performance out of Cyara Geronimo, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Victoria Hardy also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

West Broward's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Cypress Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Cypress Bay beat West Broward 8-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cypress Bay since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
