Softball Recap: Miller Grove Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Atlanta, Miller Grove was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Redan Raiders as they made off with a 22-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

JaNiya Smith and Mariah Presley did most of the damage at the plate: Smith got on base in all four of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Presley got on base in all four of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases and four runs. That's the most stolen bases Presley has posted since back in September of 2024. Imari Ward was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Miller Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .933. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .594 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Miller Grove's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.8 runs. As for Redan, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Coming up, Miller Grove will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against South Atlanta at 5:30 p.m. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Hornets have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Redan, they have already played their next game, a 16-15 victory against Lithonia on the 17th.
