Volleyball Game Preview: Bloomington Bruins vs. Arroyo Valley Hawks

The Bloomington Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Arroyo Valley Hawks at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Bloomington has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Arroyo Valley will arrive with six straight wins.

On Wednesday, Bloomington came up short against Carter and fell 3-1.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Carter scored at least 20 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-20, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Arroyo Valley made easy work of Colton on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-17, 25-15.

Bloomington better focus on containing Alahna Sanchez and Monserrat Arredondo as the pair were huge in Arroyo Valley's win. Sanchez had 34 digs and four aces, while Arredondo had seven aces and four digs. What's more, Arredondo racked up 31 assists, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aliana Zermeno, who had 15 kills.

Bloomington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Arroyo Valley, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.

Bloomington suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Arroyo Valley when the teams last played last Thursday. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
