Volleyball Recap: Sulligent Blue Devils vs. Fayette County Tigers

Sulligent lost against Fayette County on Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1. While the Blue Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 25-20 in the first set.

Sulligent actually scored more points across those three sets (64-63), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 28-26, 15-13.

Preslee Kelly went supernova For Fayette County., getting 37 digs and one assist. Those 37 digs gave Kelly a new career-high. Quinn Davis also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Sulligent's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Fayette County, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Sulligent and Fayette County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Blue Devils (ranked 140th) will meet Hamilton (ranked 296th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Fayette County will face off against Marion County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (80 vs. 203).
