Basketball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-66 heartbreaker at the hands of the Doyle Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-48 back in December of 2025.

Despite the loss, Springfield still got an impressive performance from Nyciere Mitchell, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Dequincy Davis was another key player, shooting 63% from the field to rack up 12 points.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Doyle, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.

Springfield has already played their next matchup (against Amite), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Doyle, they will be playing at home against Collegiate at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Doyle will be up against Collegiate's rather soft defense (which has allowed 56 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
