Basketball Recap: Fivay Falcons vs. Sunlake Seahawks
If Fivay was riding high fresh off their 64-31 takedown of Hudson last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fivay Falcons took a 73-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sunlake Seahawks on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while the Seahawks are ranked 175th).

Despite the loss, Fivay still got an impressive performance from Sean Brown, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 18 points and four steals. That's the most points Brown has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Orvill Ortiz, who posted five points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Fivay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive games.
Sunlake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from George Clark, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. Clark has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Christopher Murray, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.
Fivay's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Sunlake, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Fivay wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 83-22 victory against Angeline Academy of Innovation on the 10th. As for Sunlake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-48 win against Freedom on the 10th.
