Football Recap: Palestine Falls to Nacogdoches in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Palestine unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 35-14 to the Nacogdoches Dragons on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Ashton Cook threw for 95 yards and one TD. CJ Jones was his top target, picking up 65 receiving yards.

Nacogdoches' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rj Whitaker, who rushed for 59 yards and one score, and also picked up 30 receiving yards and one touchdown. Whitaker also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making two total tackles. Nacogdoches also got help from Micah Lockett, who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.

Coming up, Palestine will venture away from home to take on Jasper at 7:30 p.m. on the 5th. As for Nacogdoches, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Lufkin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
