Soccer Game Preview: Valley Center vs. West Hills

The Valley Center Jaguars will head out to face off against the West Hills Wolf Pack at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Valley Center is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Vincent Memorial a 5-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Meanwhile, West Hills came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.7 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Trojans. Given the Wolf Pack's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Trojans are ranked 896th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Hills pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those six games. As for Valley Center, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Valley Center took their victory against West Hills when the teams last played back in January of 2017 by a conclusive 4-1. In that matchup, Valley Center amassed a halftime lead of 3-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
