Basketball Recap: Josh Becker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Valley Christian over Sacramento Adventist

Valley Christian was the 91-80 winner over Sacramento Adventist when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Valley Christian Lions fell 71-61 to the Sacramento Adventist Capitals on Thursday.

Valley Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Becker, who went 5 of 10 to rack up 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Shevchuck, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Valley Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sacramento Adventist to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tristan Plesea, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 20 boards. The dominant performance gave Plesea a new career-high in rebounds. Jake Stewart was another key player, putting up 16 points and seven boards.

Valley Christian dropped their record down to 8-12 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sacramento Adventist, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season.

Valley Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-19 win against Faith Christian on the 1st. As for Sacramento Adventist, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-42 defeat against Western Sierra Collegiate Academy on the 1st.
