Basketball Recap: Sublette Comes Up Short

Sublette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Macksville Mustangs. While the Larks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 18-12 in the first quarter.

Macksville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Diego Esparza, who posted 26 points along with eight boards and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Esparza has scored at least a third of Macksville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Adams, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Sublette's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Macksville, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Sublette didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-50 defeat against Spearville on the 14th. As for Macksville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 61-58 win against South Gray on the 14th.
