Basketball Recap: Fruitdale Comes Up Short

Fruitdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 27th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Leroy Bears, falling 64-32. The Pirates were probably out for revenge after losing 82-46 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leroy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ja'Kavien Collins, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Collins has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian White, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Fruitdale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Leroy, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Fruitdale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-30 loss against Choctaw County on the 16th. As for Leroy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-43 defeat against McIntosh on the 14th.
