Preview: Northgate Vikings vs. Drew

The Northgate Vikings will head out on the road to face off against Drew at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Northgate has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by Creekside 64-35 on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Northgate has scored all season.

Northgate's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Randria Wilcher, who scored 18 points along with two blocks, and DeAsia Stinson who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Wilcher posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Holly Metz, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Drew's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 56-7 defeat at the hands of Harris County. While losing is never fun, Drew can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while Harris County is ranked 64th).

Northgate's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Drew, they bumped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Northgate against Drew in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 49-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northgate since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
