The Laguna Acoma Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Laguna Acoma challenged Northwest on Thursday. The Hawks blew past the Falcons 28-2. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Brianna Filmer was a standout: she fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmyne Carrillo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases.

Laguna Acoma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .885. They are 17-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Mesilla Valley Christian School had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 15-3 win.

Maren Fiske made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Fiske was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Mesilla Valley Christian School got a massive performance out of Briley Eaton, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Jacie Caldwell was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Mesilla Valley Christian School pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Laguna Acoma, their record now sits at 17-7.
