Basketball Recap: Veritas Collegiate Academy Snags 11th Win in Last 13 Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sandy Spring Friends, Veritas Collegiate Academy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 79-60 victory over the Cristo Rey Royals. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Royals are ranked 318th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Veritas Collegiate Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points over those games. As for Cristo Rey, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-18.

Looking ahead, Veritas Collegiate Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cristo Rey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
