Preview: St. Pius X Warriors vs. Smithville Warriors
St. Pius X has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. The St. Pius X Warriors and the Smithville Warriors will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in St. Pius X's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups.
Even though Plattsburg scored an imposing 67 points on Friday, St. Pius X still came out on top. St. Pius X beat Plattsburg by the very same score they won with last week: 78-67. The victory was all the more spectacular given St. Pius X's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Plattsburg is ranked 74th).
Meanwhile, Smithville pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 86-60 defeat at the hands of Summit Christian Academy. Smithville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-24.
St. Pius X's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5. As for Smithville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
