Baseball Recap: Volunteer Comes Up Short

Volunteer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 15-3 to the Unicoi County Blue Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Friday.

Volunteer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Russell, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Volunteer's loss dropped their record down to 2-23. As for Unicoi County, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Volunteer will venture away from home to face off against Greeneville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Greene Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Unicoi County, they are taking a road trip to take on Grainger at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
