Basketball Recap: Avon Comes Up Short

If Avon was riding high fresh off their 56-17 takedown of Colome last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Avon Pirates lost 58-32 to the Corsica/Stickney Jaguars on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 40-29 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Avon's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Corsica/Stickney, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon and Centerville will compete for holiday cheer at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Corsica/Stickney, they will host Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
