The Purnell Swett Rams will be taking part in a tournament against the Heide Trask Titans at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Purnell Swett is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Purnell Swett is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against East Columbus on Saturday. They fell just short of the Gators by a score of 2-1.

Joseden Oxendine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Purnell Swett saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Brooks, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Meanwhile, Heide Trask was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to Fairmont.

Jackson Sadler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Brantley Lunsford and Cooper Uhland stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lunsford got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI, while Uhland got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Purnell Swett's record is now 10-10. As for Heide Trask, their record now sits at 4-15.

Everything went Purnell Swett's way against Heide Trask when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Purnell Swett made off with a 10-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
