Softball Recap: Shadyside Victorious

Shadyside came out on top against Bridgeport on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Tigers walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Bulldogs. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Ali Weatherson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off seven hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cam Kolvek, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Emma Gorrell was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Shadyside's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Bridgeport, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Shadyside will take on Monroe Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Seminoles' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bridgeport, they will venture away from home to face off against Toronto at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
