Basketball Recap: Wayland-Cohocton Takes a Loss

Wayland-Cohocton suffered their closest loss since December 10, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Avon River Hawks by a score of 46-43. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the River Hawks: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Wayland-Cohocton still got an impressive performance from Alex Fedorchuk, who posted ten points along with five boards and three steals. Fedorchuk has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Cole Hanggi was another key player, putting up 13 points and six rebounds.

Wayland-Cohocton's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Avon, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Wayland-Cohocton and Avon will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Eagles are set to take on their familiar foe Dansville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Avon will face off against rival Letchworth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
