Preview: San Luis Sidewinders vs. Kofa Kings

San Luis is on a six-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Kofa a four-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The San Luis Sidewinders will take on the Kofa Kings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Luis will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Kofa is ranked 161st).

Last Monday, San Luis beat Alhambra 46-37. That 46-37 margin sets a new team best for San Luis this season.

Meanwhile, Kofa struggled with assists on Tuesday (Yuma had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Kofa took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Yuma.

Calvin Barber put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Braveheart, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Kofa were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

San Luis' win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5. As for Kofa, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

San Luis took a serious blow against Kofa in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 66-14. Will San Luis have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
