Southeast is 2-8 against Crest since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Southeast is taking a road trip to take on Crest at 3:30 p.m. Southeast is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Southeast is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Central Heights. That's two games in a row now that the Lancers have lost by just one run.
Southeast saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colten Jameson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Crest strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Yates Center with a sharp 19-4 victory. Fans of the Lancers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Crest let Kade Nilges and Henry White run wild. Nilges went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while White scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Nilges has been hot recently, having posted five or more RBI the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Drake Weir, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Crest hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yates Center struck out nine times.
Crest pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Southeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Southeast has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Crest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Southeast might still be hurting after the 27-0 loss they got from Crest in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Southeast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
