Softball Recap: Clarke Central Gladiators vs. Alcovy Tigers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bethlehem Christian Academy, Clarke Central was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Alcovy Tigers 6-5. The victory was some much needed relief for the Gladiators as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Peyton Aubrey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaiden Bradford, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Ozuna, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Clarke Central's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-12. As for Alcovy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
