Basketball Recap: Taylor Comes Up Short

Taylor lost against Rossville back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Taylor Titans lost 54-31 to the Rossville Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while the Hornets are ranked 162nd).

When it comes to explaining why Taylor lost, don't look at Jallainah Harris. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 boards. That's the most points Harris has posted since back in November of 2024.

Even though they lost, Taylor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Rossville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allie Elliott led the charge by putting up 16 points and seven rebounds. Elliott continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Pascal, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points.

Taylor has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Rossville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylor will head out to face off against Madison-Grant at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rossville, they will venture away from home to square off against Frankfort at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
