Baseball Recap: Clover Garden School Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chatham Charter, Clover Garden School was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the River Mill Jaguars 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ethan Saunders and Jordan Brannock made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Saunders tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Brannock tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Saunders went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Brannock went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Saunders has become a key player for Clover Garden School: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden DeAlto, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Dean Thacker, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Clover Garden School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Clover Garden School is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for River Mill, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Clover Garden School will face off against Chatham Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight. River Mill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
