Softball Recap: Union Spartans vs. North Duplin Rebels

After a string of four wins, Union's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 13-3 walloping at the hands of the North Duplin Rebels. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Union in their matchups with North Duplin: they've now lost six in a row.

Hailey King put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up seven earned (and six unearned) runs off only two hits (and only one walk). King has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. King was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

King wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Smith, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

On North Duplin's side, Outlaw Reece and Bernal Marissa did most of the damage at the plate: Reece scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Marissa went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
