Basketball Recap: Kai Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Forest Lake Academy over Mount Dora Christian Academy

Forest Lake Academy lost against Mount Dora Christian Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Forest Lake Academy Panthers came up short against the Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs, falling 69-47. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 709th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 338th).

Forest Lake Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kai Smith, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Ledan, who posted ten points and five boards.

Tyler Mcclinton-Hutto had an outrageously good game for Mount Dora Christian Academy as he dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Mcclinton-Hutto a new career-high in steals (seven). Landon Marenco was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Forest Lake Academy dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Forest Lake Academy has already played their next game, a 54-50 victory against Elite Prep Academy on the 23rd. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-44 win against Meadowbrook Academy on the 23rd.
