Softball Game Preview: Metcalfe County Hornets vs. Washington County Commanders

The Metcalfe County Hornets will head out to square off against the Washington County Commanders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Metcalfe County is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Metcalfe County fell victim to Russell County and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Lakers, falling 10-0.

Nelson County hit Washington County with a seven-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Commanders lost 14-1 to the Cardinals. The defeat continues a trend for the Commanders in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost five in a row.

Washington County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Loren Frantz, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Metcalfe County's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Washington County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Metcalfe County beat Washington County 36-31 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Commanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
