Volleyball Recap: Mona Shores Takes a Loss

If Mona Shores was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Muskegon on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sailors fell just short of the Caledonia Fighting Scots by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Sailors haven't had much luck with the Fighting Scots recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Mona Shores took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-21, 25-27, 25-16, 15-13.

Avery Seif was nothing short of spectacular for Caledonia: she had 26 digs and one assist. Those 26 digs gave Seif a new career-high.

Mona Shores' defeat dropped their record down to 16-13. As for Caledonia, the victory snapped their losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 18-16 record.

Mona Shores and Caledonia should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Sailors will take on Montague at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (62 vs. 449). Meanwhile, Caledonia (ranked 44th) will meet Reeths-Puffer (ranked 183rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
