Baseball Game Preview: Red Lion Lions vs. Eastern York Golden Knights

The Red Lion Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Eastern York Golden Knights at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Red Lion will be strutting in after a win while Eastern York will be coming in after a loss.

Red Lion's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They didn't even let William Penn on the board, marking Red Lion's second-straight 10-0 shutout. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Red Lion got a massive performance out of Connor Lawrence, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Lawrence has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Martin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Red Lion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as William Penn only posted an OBP of .118.

Meanwhile, Eastern York lost 14-8 to Susquehannock on Wednesday. The Golden Knights have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Parker Strayer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Logan Howard was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Eastern York's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Red Lion, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Red Lion has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. However, it's not like Eastern York struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
