Football Game Preview: Bluff Dale Bobcats vs. Strawn Greyhounds

Bluff Dale is 0-4 against Strawn since November of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Bobcats will square off against the Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bluff Dale is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mount Calm 70-30. The victory was nothing new for the Bobcats as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Alex Saucedo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 278 yards and five scores while picking up 13.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 52 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 278 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Austin Saucedo was another key player, throwing for 110 yards and three TDs on only nine passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bluff Dale was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 379 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Strawn blew past Gold-Burg, posting a 78-12 win. Given the Greyhounds' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Bears are ranked 185th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Strawn's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Bluff Dale, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.

Bluff Dale was taken down by Strawn 78-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2021. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
