Baseball Recap: East Duplin Comes Up Short

East Duplin was the 24-8 winner over Clinton when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The East Duplin Panthers fell just short of the Clinton Dark Horses by a score of 4-3 on Thursday.

Kyle Kern was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, East Duplin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Rouse, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles. The dominant performance gave Rouse a new career-high in doubles. Another was Calvin Harper, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

East Duplin's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Clinton, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

East Duplin has already played their next contest, a 7-5 defeat against Richlands on the 7th. As for Clinton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-0 loss against West Brunswick on the 7th.
