Baseball Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss

Monticello lost against Crossett back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Billies lost 13-3 to the Eagles. The Billies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monticello saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Hines, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Hines is becoming a predictor of the Billies' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 6-10 when he doesn't).

Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Crossett, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Monticello will head out to square off against DeWitt at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dragons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Billies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Crossett, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against River Oaks at 6:00 p.m. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
