Baseball Game Preview: Middletown Middies vs. Mason Comets

Middletown hasn't had much luck against Mason recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Middies will look to defend their home field against the Comets at 5:00 p.m. Middletown has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Middletown is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They fell 11-8 to Lakota East. On the bright side, the eight- run effort marked the Middies' highest-scoring match to date.

Meanwhile, Mason had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They never let the Highlanders get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory.

Not much got past Ben Hanley, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Oak Hills off the board. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Hanley.

On the hitting side, Cade Landheer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Mason's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Middletown, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.
