Softball Game Preview: Ponaganset Chieftains vs. Cumberland Clippers

The Ponaganset Chieftains will challenge the Cumberland Clippers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Ponaganset is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Cranston West, who was ranked fifth at the time (Ponaganset was ranked 17th). The Chieftains lost 12-2 to the Falcons on Monday.

Mia Duncan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Cumberland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Chariho, falling 9-1.

Ponaganset dropped their record down to 4-9 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Cumberland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.
