Basketball Recap: Grossmont Drops Season-High Score on Santana

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grossmont). They managed a 63-59 victory over the Santana Sultans on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Foothillers: when they faced off against the Sultans back in January, they had to take a 62-52 defeat.

Several Sultans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dain Diaz, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards. Caine Lawless was another key player, going 7-for-14 to rack up 17 points.

Grossmont picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 5-22. As for Santana, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season.

Looking ahead, Grossmont will host El Cajon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grossmont is facing El Cajon Valley at the right time seeing as El Cajon Valley is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Santana, they are taking a road trip to challenge West Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Santana is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.
