Baseball Game Preview: Lakewood Ranch Mustangs vs. Braden River Pirates

The Lakewood Ranch Mustangs will take on the Braden River Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Tuesday, Lakewood Ranch didn't have quite enough to beat Sarasota and fell 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Sailors: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Braden River fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Out-of-Door Academy on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Thunder by a score of 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by just one run.

Braden River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rhys Klein, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Braden River and nudges their season record down to 11-10. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Lakewood Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.

Lakewood Ranch suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Braden River in their previous meeting on Thursday. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
