Volleyball Recap: Shullsburg's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After a string of three wins, Shullsburg's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the River Ridge Timberwolves. Miners fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Timberwolves since Tuesday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 18-25, 25-17, 25-14.

Shullsburg's offense was headlined by Adaline Woodworth and McKinley Russell, who picked up 11 kills apiece. They got some help from Kallie Timmerman and her 30 assists. Woodworth was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

River Ridge can attribute much of their success to Caleigh Krantz, who had 16 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Krantz a new career-high.

Shullsburg's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for River Ridge, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Shullsburg is set to face off against their familiar foe Potosi at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, River Ridge will take on rival Benton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
