Football Game Preview: Canton Tigers vs. Greenville Hornets + Official Tickets

The Canton Tigers will square off against the Greenville Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Canton and three for Greenville.

On Thursday, Canton had to suffer through a 49-21 loss at the hands of Ridgeland. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Titans are ranked 30th).

Despite the defeat, Canton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jaden Gee threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns. The Tigers are 2-1 when Gee posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Greenville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 13-8 to Callaway.

Greenville's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Canton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything came up roses for Canton against Greenville when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 40-6 victory. In that matchup, the Tigers amassed a halftime lead of 34-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
