Basketball Recap: Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy Takes a Loss

Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Braden River Pirates 45-3. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Candence Clay was Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy's leading scorer, having posted three points.

Braden River's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kelis McGrady, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. McGrady is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Mya Ortega was another key player, going 6 of 9 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Braden River, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-4.

Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy will venture away from home to challenge The Classical Academy of Sarasota at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Braden River, they will be taking part in a tournament against Bishop Kenny at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th.
