Baseball Game Preview: St. Bonaventure Seraphs vs. Grace Lancers

The St. Bonaventure Seraphs will take on the Grace Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Bonaventure's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Grace's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

St. Bonaventure fell victim to Rio Mesa and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The Seraphs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

St. Bonaventure got a good showing from Joseph Martinez, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Meanwhile, Grace had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out Thacher 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lancers have posted since April 18, 2024.

Rudy Gargiulo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Jake Barrett was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Grace: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Van, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Grace's win bumped their record up to 8-9-2. As for St. Bonaventure, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.
