Mandarin has gone 7-1 against Englewood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Mandarin Mustangs will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Englewood Rams at 6:00 p.m.

Mandarin is leaving town to face Englewood after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Mandarin fell just short of Tocoi Creek by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

CJ Murphy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Gavin Loper was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Englewood had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 6-3 win over Nease.

Tito Guerrero was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Guerrero was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Guerrero wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ender Aldana, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Mandarin skirted past Englewood 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mandarin since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
