Basketball Game Preview: Madison County Cowboys vs. Brooks County Trojans

Madison County is 4-0 against Brooks County since November of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Madison County Cowboys will challenge the Brooks County Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Madison County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Brooks County likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Madison County strolled past Taylor County with points to spare, taking the game 72-58. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 536th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Louis Gaddy Jr was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 24 rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Micah Newman, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, Brooks County ended up a good deal behind Turner County on Saturday and lost 65-49. The Trojans have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Madison County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points per game. As for Brooks County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Everything came up roses for Madison County against Brooks County when the teams last played last Saturday, as the team secured an 80-43 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madison County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
